Sawyer; IF awarded design
The exhibition of all the entries for the IBDC were exhibited at the Asia University in Taichung.
The International Bicycle Design Competition (IBDC) is one of the most prominent competitions aiming to promote young talent in the international bicycle industry. This competition, hosted by the Cycling & Health Tech Industry R&D Center (CHC) and sponsored by the Department of Industrial Technology, Ministry of Economic Affairs, R.O.C., is taking place for the 17th time this year. iF International Forum Design, with its iF Branch Office Taiwan, is responsible for the organization and execution of the event. The jury for this year’s IBDC has chosen 22 awardwinners from among the 590 entries submitted from some 45 countries from around the world in this year’s IBDC. In their judging session in Taipei on 3 October 2012, a panel of international experts selected 22 innovative works as the prize-winners of all the entries submitted.

Sawyer, the bicycle with the plywood frame, designed by Jurgen Kuipers, is one of the 22 awardwinners. The ten most outstanding ideas share a purse of prize-money. The prize-money winners will be announced and honored at the Taipei Cycle Show in March 2013. At this time, the prototypes of the concepts entered by the IBDC winners will also be on exhibition and presented to the international public.
